Chtoura, Lebanon – 05/06/2016: 11-months-old Mahmoud Natouf lives with his parents and two older sisters in a makeshift refugee camp near the city of Chtoura, Lebanon. Unlike his sisters who accompanied their parents when they left their native town Ghouta in Syria in 2012, Mahmoud was born in a Lebanese hospital. However, he is neither recognized as a Lebanese nor as a Syrian citizen. Mahmoud and thousands of other refugee children born in war-torn Syria’s neighboring countries risk growing up as stateless persons.
